It was the 15th edition and yet no one would have imagined such a Dantesque edge to this year`s event in Chamonix! All the ingredients were on set: an enthusiastic crowd, the best and the brightest of trailers, an indescribable ambiance and inevitably, compression clothing.
Compressport® places 3 Team Partners in the top 10!
Mother nature decided to play it hard on the show but could not deter our athletes` determination to break through the thick and thin and outperform. After 19 hours of run François d’Haene of France crossed the finish line of the 166 Km trail around the Mont Blanc, almost 15 minutes ahead of triple winner Kilian Jornet.
Dylan Bowman, Gediminas Grinius and Jordi Gamito were the three best Compressport partners in the first 10 select finishers of the Ultra-Trail.
In the women`s race, Spain Teresa Nimes finished at the 11th place after little less than 30 hours of run.
Ludovic Pommeret upgrades his track record with a CCC podium win
He won the 170-Km race in 2016 and he was announced as a serious contender on the 101-Km Courmayeur-Champex-Chamonix race. American Hayden Hawks fought fierce and furious to confirm his lead up to the finish line. Ludovic managed a wonderful 3rd place, 25 minutes later.
Pro Team Quick -Step Floors wins 5 stages so far on La Vuelta Espana
After 3 impressive wins during the first week of competition, Quick-Step Floors teammates did not relinquish their guard as the Grand Tour gets into its second week. Matteo Trentin, as a true team leader, secured another two important victories for his team. If the trend is maintained we can expect other podiums as La Vuelta enters into the final straight!
Prelude to Kona
Lucy Charles steps on the podium at the 2nd place after her performance on the iconic triathlon location of Lanzarote where some of the best triathletes gathered to end the Ironman event.
Though Lucy could not reiterate her performance of May last, she nevertheless confirmed her superb form before heading to Kona World Championships. All over the three runs, she controlled her effort and stayed strong in the leading pack to secure her second place. `
Guilio Molinari having also secured his ticket for Kona, put his form to test on the Challenge Walchsee staged in the Austrian Tyrol. With three precedent victories on that same track Guilio was naturally favourite but local boy Thomas Steger was stronger. Guilio had to settle for the gold medal, more than enough to grasp confidence before the world championships!
