Compression Clothing – Coz I’m worth it!

Week N° 28 of 2017, 2nd Week of the Tour de France and it was also another tremendous week for our partner athletes as they perform around the world in their favourite compression apparel.

While almost all professional cyclists continue hunting after the yellow jersey on the French Tour and enter their 3rd week of competition, Compressport® colours flew high on the tracks from Switzerland to Britain and the US.

Will CLARKE went to Bolton, UK and wins his ticket to Kona, Hawai

After Frankfurt, the weekend before, it was UK`s Bolton turn to welcome the IRONMAN event. Good weather, good public and overall good conditions were the necessary ingredients for the vent to be memorable. And again Bolton`s IRONMAN was mandatory for many in their ultimate goal: secure their participation ticket to Kona 2017.

Will CLARKE of BMC Etixx was one of them. Geared in his favourite compression clothing, the R2V2, Will fought fiercely to retain his second place (the first one would definitely be French Cyril Viennot`s). At one moment, Will so tightly clenched to that second place that he was finally penalized by 4 minutes. Not at all perturbed, he forced himself to his limits to catch up and legitimately got his 2nd most envied place. His ticket for Kona was in pocket!

Joe GAMBLES was in Racine, US for another IRONMAN 70.3 event

It was cold in Wisconsin this 17th July 2017 for one of the biggest races in the US! So cold, that the swim run of the IRONMAN Racine had to be cancelled, to the dismay of all the participants. Winds were strong as well but not enough however to deter them from getting on their bike and tackle the 56-mile tour of the Racine Zoo and the beautiful Lake of Michigan.

Compressport`s Joe GAMBLES, Matt HANSON and Matt CHRABOT were in the starting blocks. Battling against the strong winds, they managed to sustain a respective 3rd, 5th and 7th place before the final race.

Eventually, after the 13.1-mile run, Joe GAMBLES crossed the finish line at the 3rd place, confirming his big return to the podium after that of June in Australia.

Mauricio MENDEZ makes it 2nd at the XTERRA Beever Creek

Conditions were perfect in Colorado and on the Rocky Mountains, where the stage was set to welcome the 7th stop on Pan American Tour. Early in the season he had been battling around the world for some IRONMAN sensations and in Colorado our Mexican partner, Mauricio MENDEZ came to enjoy the dirt-racing event.

Though he had the lead after the swim run, Mauricio let go of some precious pedal strokes to Josiah Middaugh who jumped on the occasion and ran to the finish line 41 seconds ahead of Mauricio. Our Mexican talent is well set on track for other great performances!

Jordi GAMITO overcomes injury and makes it 3rd on the Eiger Ultra Trail

The Eiger Ultra Trail is a must-go detour on the Ultra Trail World Tour, where runners set up to climb 6700 vertical meters over 10 Km.

Jordi GamitoJordi GAMITO has been on the sidelines for one month because of injury and his comeback to competition has been more than just satisfactory after the fantastic 3rd place he determinedly and strongly secured on the ultra trail.

We now focus on the second half of the season where much will be expected from our talented athletes. The Tour de France will close up after 3 weeks of exhilarating cycling, Nice will welcome its IRONMAN event and many more events are scheduled on the various continents.

Stay tuned here while the results continue to flow in!

More than just a tradition, Ironman France Nice is almost a legend. This year too our pro athletes stole the show and one man was going to make history!

Name : Van Lierde                  Surname: Frederik

Fred van lierde 824x400

It all started with a 3,8 Km-swim in the Mediterranean sea and in the top 3 who exited from the waters was Frederik at 00:49:21. The lead was enough for him to believe that the 180-Km bike run could take him even nearer to an overall win. In full control of his pedal pushes he managed his lead to the finish line in a tremendous 04:39:00, almost 15 mins ahead of the runner-up.

Once on his 42-Km run Frederik Van Lierde did not look back! Focusing on each meter ahead of him, soon the kilometres became just a piece of cake. In 2:57:19 he ran away to his 4th victory on the Ironman France track. He shared the podium with Italian Alessandro Degasperi (2nd) and French Denis Chevrot (3rd).

With this great victory Frederik is sending a signal that the World Championships will have to count with him!

With first place going to Frederik Van Lierde, Compressport was proud to place Victor DEL CORRAL in the 5th place and Arnaud GUILLOUX in the 6th place.

Compressport ® France takes pride in achieving a great job on the 2017 Ironman France Nice edition.

Looking forward to the next edition!

Lucy Charles will be at the World Championships!

All she had to do was to win the maximum points on the next IRONMAN® event! The stage was set in Frankfurt and triathletes had enrolled with one and only purpose: grab the maximum qualifying points for Kona 2017.

Lucy CHARLES up to now has had a fantastic season and her next challenge is Kona 2017 scheduled in 3 weeks` time!

As she always does on almost all her tri events, Lucy exited first from the waters,  in front of Sarah Crowley who stroke back on her bike to pull level, though Lucy retained her advantage.

However, she had to let go on the last run, Crowley proving herself stronger in the finish. Lucy finished 4 minutes behind at the 2nd place. Mission accomplished for our partner athlete and her compression clothing is no stranger to that!

_Patrik-NilssonAt the World Championships might also be Patrick NILSSON from BMC-Etixx as he did great on the men`s side winning the bronze medal and securing the precious points necessary for Kona 2017.

The Skyrunning World Series goes on in the Valley of Val d’Isère

Aure?lien-Dunand-PallazAnd Aurélien DUNAND-PALLAZ jumped on the occasion to plant his poles on one of the Europe`s toughest trail tracks, climb over 5200 of vertical meters and cross the finish line in 2nd place.

On the earlier preliminary event, Xavier GACHET and William BON MARDION has a blistering pace and manage to earn the 1st and 3rd places.

And last but not least, our other partner athletes, Scotty HAWKER and Paul GIBLIN lined up for the 19km trail race.

In Italy, the Cycle Tour has come full circle!

Orica-ScottAt the Giro Rosa the final whistle was blown after two weeks of exceptional performance. Team Orica Scott puts an end to its Italian tour with brio when teammate Annemiek VAN VLEUTEN claims an overall 3rd place on the podium and Amanda Spratt falling off the podium at the 4th place.

In Germany, the show was also staged in Roth!

While Frankfurt had attracted some classy field of triathletes around an IRONMAN event, Roth was hosting its annual triathlon Challenge, the biggest of Germany.

Bart-AernoutsAnd big was Bart AERNOUTS who after a 23rd place out of his swim run did not call it quits! On the contrary he managed to glean some places up the table, so much he passed everyone and impressively made his way to the finish line and stayed under the 8-hour milestone. A fantastic run from a tremendous athlete in the most outstanding time, that`s Bart`s way on the Challenge Roth!

Lisa-RobertsOn the women side, Compressport®`s partner Lisa ROBERTS made it to the 3rd step of the podium at 8:57:14.

Giro-Rosa-824x400While the top men cyclists are touring in France our top women`s teams have enrolled for the 10-stage race that will culminate on Sunday 9th July on Mount Vesuvius.

Our team made a honourable start on the team time trial stage, with a short distance race on flat roads that placed ORICA-SCOTT team at the 3rd place while Canyon-SRAM were the 5th fastest against the clock. Boels Dolmans Pro CT won the trial.

orica-scott-824x400Day 2 saw the tremendous win of our Orica-Scott team rider, Dutch Annemiek VAN VLEUTEN who managed to widen the gap on the most technical part of the route between Zoppola and Montereale Valcellina to fiercely grasp victory.

On Day 3 of the Giro, British Hannah BARNES pedalled to her first UCI World Tour win and her first as well under Canyon SRAM colours.

It appears that after this memorable fist week competition, Compressport® Team partners are all set to steal the show in France on the TDF and in Italy on the the 28th Giro d’Italia Internatzionale Femminile!
