A perfect day in Silverton as the Frenchman breaks the course record in his first time at the famous race...
After pacing Aurélien last year to victory, this year he got his own chance. Forever showing to us that age is no barrier, Ludo who turns 49 next week reminded us all he’s at the top of not only his game, but the game at the 2024 Hardrock 100. Not only did he win by more than 3 hours, but he brought down the race record set by Kilian Jornet in 2022, by 3 minutes, stopping the clock at 21h33´06¨
“It was my dream (to win it), I was just asking ‘when will there be a nightmare?’ But finally, there was no nightmare¨
After a fast start, Ludo took the lead less than a third of the way into the rugged 100.5-mile clockwise-edition of the course after separating from countryman François D’Haene, the 2021 Hardrock champion and 2022 runner-up.
While D´Haene unfortunately dropped from the race, the battle was on for the podium and our ´Zpeedy´ Pazos was also living his own dream, surrounded by his wife and 3 children who gave him extra strength to fight for that 2nd place podium position. After a great battle, Pazos caught Jason Schlarb to take over 2nd place before and increased the gap to four minutes by the Cunningham aid station (mile 91.2). After an amazing effort, he went on to finish 5 minutes head of Schlarb, crossing the line after 24h39´33¨ A perfect 1st and 2nd place podium for our runners!
