Helio Fumo | PRO TRAIL RUNNER

The natural sportsman from Mozambique, Helio Fumo has already had an impressive career competing in the 800m and 1500m athletic disciplines. He has finished in the top 10 of the Trail World Championship on two occasions and continues to prove his growth in the sport. When not training or racing, he is graciously giving his time as a guide to 4 Paralympic Runners and works in his own patissiere business.

How did you get into Trail Running?

While I was competing in athletics, I was invited by a friend to try a 42km trail race. It was such a fun experience that I couldn't just stop at one race...I had to keep going.

What is your best race memory?

Seeing snow for the first time during competition in the Pierra Menta eté 2016
It was a special memory, since I was born in a tropical country. While running at more than 2000 metres of altitude, it suddenly started to snow. I let myself be carried away by this new experience and amazing feeling...until suddenly I became worried about the cold that I started to feel: )

When you're not running, what else are you into?

Outside of running I manage my small business (Love In The Bag) baking cookies and cakes for sale online and to various businesses in Lisbon, Portugal. I am also a Psychologist and developing my own coaching business.

What is your best way to recover?

Simple answer..Rest:) I manage my recovery with my Compressport Calf Sleeves and Full Socks, getting regular massage and doing a lot of stretching.
