Here you will find a selection of the favourite motivational films from some of our International Athletes. Whether it's to inspire you, give you ideas or just to keep you busy while you recover from training or during those bad weather days. So if movies are your things, don´t miss this great selection...

01. UNBROKEN

After a near-fatal plane crash in WWII, Olympian Louis Zamperini spends a harrowing 47 days in a raft with two fellow crewmen before he's caught by the Japanese navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.

One of the favorite movies of Michael Wardian, for him, the movie is a testament to what grit and determination is all about.  It inspires him to take chances and live his life to the fullest.

02. FREESOLO

A stunning, intimate and unflinching portrait of the free soloist climber Alex Honnold, as he prepares to achieve his lifelong dream: climbing the face of the world’s most famous rock ... the 3,000ft El Capitan in Yosemite National Park ... without a rope. Recommended by Michael Wardian to see a fringe sport getting the love it deserves. Because it grips you and doesn't let go.

Rocky Balboa, the legendary boxer, has long since left the ring. All that remains of his successes are the stories he tells his restaurant patrons. The death of his wife weighs on him every day and his son never comes to see him. Today's champion is called Mason Dixon, and everyone agrees to define him as a killer without elegance or heart. While the promoters are desperately looking for an adversary to his size, the legend of Rocky resurfaces.

Recommended by Frederik Van Lierde for the morality behind it  ´Hard work does pay off´. Don´t make it too difficult, just stick to the basics and you will get the results. He lives by this  old school way of thinking.

04. BLIND SIDE

The story of Michael Oher, a homeless and traumatized boy who became an All-American football player and first-round NFL draft pick with the help of a caring woman and her family.

Recommended by Simon Mitchell because it is based on a true story, made up entirely on turning points -Overcoming learning difficulties, adoption and racism to graduating and becoming a big NFL star...Very inspirational! Such a great film for her. Let's try it to get inspiration and hope on your projects. 

05. THE STAR WARS TRILOGY

The original trilogy were the first films of the Star Wars saga to be produced. These were the movies released from 1977 to 1983. They primarily focus on the Rebel Alliance trying to free the galaxy from the clutches of the Galactic Empire, as well as Luke Skywalker's quest to become a Jedi and face Sith Lord Darth Vader. Recommended by Lisa Roberts for all the life lessons (Respect your elders. Practice makes perfect, the shiniest, newest, most expensive thing isn’t always the best. You can do anything you put your mind to…). That can be taken from these nostalgic original movies that can span a workout or a lifetime. So, let's watch it.. and the force be with you…!

The life of renowned runner Steve Prefontaine and his relationship with legendary coach Bill Bowerman. Recommended by Mel Hauschildt.

A talented young boy becomes torn between his unexpected love of dance and the disintegration of his family. Recommended by Audrey Tanguy for his message no matter where you come from or who you are, if you have the passion you will succeed. We let you try and see if you liked it, keep motivation from it.

In the summer of 1962, a new kid in town is taken under the wing of a young baseball prodigy and his rowdy team, resulting in many adventures. The favorite movie of Katie Schide, simply because it's baseball, dogs, and summer... it's an American classic

The 12th Man tells the dramatic story of Jan Baalsrud's escape from the Nazis during the Second World War. The 2017 Norwegian historical drama directed by Harald Zwart was adapted from the book Jan Baalsrud and Those Who Saved Him(2001). A thrilling, action packed movie recommended once again by Michael Wardian, who has a long list of great recommendations….

The Lord of the Rings is a film series of three epic fantasy adventure films directed by Peter Jackson, based on the novel written by J.R.R.Tolkien. Set in the fictional world of Middle-Earth, the films follow the hobbit, Frodo Baggins as he and the Fellowship embark on a quest to destroy the One Ring, to ensure the destruction of its make, the Dark Lord Sauron. An all-time favourite that never grows old, the movie series is a top recommendation amongst our Compressport Staff.
