On the cards.. intense training, team building, workshops, photoshoots and not to mention; great cuisine. With motivation and good spirits, we can conclude that it was a fun and successful 2022 edition and our athletes are now ready to tackle the racing season ahead of them!
Each year, as a brand, we consider it a key element of the year to bring together our Elite Athletes. Finding the moment before the busy racing season commences is important to ensure the athletes feel equipped with the tools and support necessary to give their best effort in the races they are about to face throughout the year.
This year we have had the privilege of bringing both Trail Runners and Triathletes together…a rare but special experience for everyone involved to indulge in both sports. They had the chance to share training together, test products and provide their feedback in all areas for the development of the brand. While we took advantage of creating some great content along the way! From Spain, France, Portugal, Switzerland and the UK, we were spoiled with a serious group of talented International Athletes.
With the Madeira Ultra Trail on the horizon for some of our runners, the first day commenced with a long run at dawn for our Trail Runners. While for some of the Triathletes with the Ironman World Championships just one month away, chose to discover the famous local roads with an intense bike session.
Concluding a busy morning, we took the chance to capture some specific product content with a photo and video shooting. In the afternoon, the group was surprised with a fun team-building activity away from the typical sporting regime…a Ceramic Class. Then to end a productive first day, we celebrated each member of the team with a small personalized gift. A nice motivative memorabilia! We were also welcomed by some guests, our International staff and a local sporting hero and friend of the brand; Marcel Zamora.
The warm Spanish sun started to show itself, in time for a big day of training. A tough run interval session for the Triathletes and another long run for the Trail Runners, was a perfect start to the day. Product development and Social Media Workshops gave the Athletes a chance to express their feedback and enhance their skills.
Doubling up the training sessions, the groups headed out for another bike and run session to complete another very busy day.
The last day and what better a way than ending a Compressport Athletes Camp with a fun and challenging race: Compressport ¨First to the Top¨ Challenge. In teams of 2; 1 x trail runner and 1 x triathlete, the athletes were out to claim bragging rights.
The locations - on one of the region's famous climbs in the Catalan Pyrenees - Mare de Déu del Mont. A tough 15km by bike or a 5km steep vertical ascent through rugged trails, both accumulating over 800metres vertical gain.
After a well deserved effort, a nice Paella in the sun courtesy of our in house chef concluded an unforgettable 3 days together.
The racing season is about to take full flight, starting this weekend with MIUT on the Portuguese Island of Madeira. In terms of Ultra Trail, the races continue with a dense Summer of racing leading up to UTMB® - a main focus for most of our Trail Runners.
In Triathlon, we are just weeks away from the delayed 2021 Ironman® World Championships in St George where we will support our four athletes racing. Then action turns to Ironman® France and the PTO® Tour amongst many more during June/July, before another spectacular end to the year with the Ironman® and Ironman® 70.3 World Championships in October.
As a team, we look forward to coming together again during late July for another training camp to fine tune the fitness for the 2nd half of the year racing goals!
