Our Slovenian teammate made it to the 3rd place on the time trial but overall, after 19hours 4 minutes and 3 seconds, and without winning any of the five races, puts Lotto-NL Jumbo on the highest step of the podium, followed by Team Sky`s Michael Kwiatowski.

Jumbo-824x400 On 4 of the 5 stages, Compressport`s teammates assert themselves as cycling pros and made it to the top of the table. TOP 6 SPORTS WHERE COMPRESSION IN CUSTOM SPORTS APPAREL IS USEFUL

> You are reading : TOP 6 SPORTS WHERE COMPRESSION SLEEVES ARE WIDELY USED AND WHY <

1/ TRAIL RUNNING

The repetition of shocks in Trail Running causes a lot of stress for the muscles, joints and tendons and may impair the performance. Keeping your muscles compact and solid, the use of compression sleeves (for calves and thighs) absorbs these shocks (-33 % vibrations) leading to less muscle oscillations and therefore less traction on tendon and muscle itself. Consequently your performance will be enhanced and your recovery process improved.

 2/ TRIATHLON

In any triathlon, T1 is the stage between the swim and the cycling ones. During this stage, triathletes switch from their swim custom sports apparel into their cycling gear. Triathletes may think that wearing compression gear make them waste time (few seconds), but the benefits of compression are worth it. On the one hand, compression’s aerodynamic properties provide an economy of 5 watts in cycling, i.e. you are able to save 1 min 30 sec on triathlon Ironman. On the other hand, the reduction of shocks during the run will ensure less traction on tendon and muscle itself and will help you finish your challenge and improve your performance.

TRIATHLON Compression Sleeves

3/ CYCLING

Many pro tour cyclists like Alberto Contador, Peter Sagan or Thibaut Pinot use COMPRESSPORT compression sleeves to recover between stages during competitions as Le Tour de France. The Full Socks are mainly used during the travels to ensure a feeling of light legs before the race. The Full Leg appears to be the ultimate recovery weapon to recover after the race. It’ll prevent inflammations and also limit the delayed muscle onset soreness (DOMS) in cycling.

Cycling

4/ SWIMMING

One-day long competitions include multiple efforts – series and finals – often repeated in a short period of time (few hours). Swimming is largely concerned. You accumulate metabolic toxins (lactic acid) and your energy reserves decrease, causing the fatigue to appear earlier for subsequent performances. Improving the venous return, the compression triggers a series of actions: muscle blood flow and oxygenation (necessary to restore the energy reserves) are improved (+15%) and the metabolic waste removal is accelerated (-13 % of lactate). In summary, custom sports apparel that uses compression will help your body stay strong: pain will be reduced and subsequent performance will be improved.

Swimming Compression Sleeves

5/ RACKET SPORTS AND TRACK AND FIELD

Pressing on your skin and muscle, the compression activates some cutaneous and muscular receptors. The message goes up to your brain and you are able to feel better proprioceptive feedback, to feel better you body in the space. Consequently, your balance is improved which will help you for sprinting, jumping and changing directions as often requested in racket sports or track and field.

Track Compression Sleeves

6/ TEAM SPORTS SUCH AS RUGBY, HANDBALL, SOCCER AND VOLLEY

Proprioceptive feedback is also interesting for team sports that require sprint, jump and changes of direction. Moreover this kind of efforts induces many shocks and causes a lot of stress for the muscles, joints and tendons. In the worst case, these shocks can promote the emergence of tendonitis, shin splints or other injuries… Absorbing the vibrations the compression guarantees less muscle oscillations and therefore less traction on tendon and muscle itself. A study conducted on 1200 sportsmen shows a reduction of this kind of injuries by 29 %!

GET TO KNOW PAU CAPELL, SPANISH ULTRA TRAIL RUNNER

1. Hi Pau. You are a new trail runner in the Compressport family. Can you let us know a bit more about you (your sport background…) and how has been your 2014 season?

I am young and I started to race sky and ultra trail only 2 years ago. In 2013 I race 2 ultra trail and finished 2nd and 3rd respectively at Menorca and Collserola. Also I compete in shorter distances in order to run more and get more experience. In 2014, I focused on ultra trail, competing in the Catalunya Championship which I won thanks to 3 victories and a 3rd place.

I also competed and finished 2nd of  Ultra Trail de Menorca (186km) and won Ultra Trail la Garrotxa. To prepare this Championship, I raced on shorter distance including MTBCN (Barcelona trail Marathon). I won each of those short races. 2014 has been great in terms of results. At the beginning of the season I just wanted to gain experience and had no real objectives. The sport is my passion and I love it, I think that is the reason why I had such a great season!

2. Why did you chose Compressport as racing and recovery gear partner? What benefits do you take from using Compressport products?

Compressport is a brand with a large range of products for all kind of sports to be used in training, during the race or for recovery. Compression is very important and efficient for the one racing with it. Indeed, the design of the product is very nice.

3. What Compressport products do you use in training/racing and recovery? Why?

I love Full Legs for recovery. They are very efficient and helps recovering better by improving blood circulation. In training, I use different products depending on the distance I have to do. I use R2 for short distances and Full Socks for long ones. I enjoy running with the Trail short which fits really well and gets the right compression around the quadriceps.

4. 2014 has been a good season for you. What are your objectives in 2015? What races do you plan on racing?

PAU CAPELL COMPRESSPORT

In 2015, I want to run with the best athletes in the world in order to learn from them. I will race Transgrancanaria Advanced, Ultra Mallorca, and Ultra Sierra Nevada. I will also compete in the Skyrunner Ultra Series including Transvulcania, Ultra de Somiedo and Ultra Pirineu. I will race CCC. The place is fantastic and ideal to live a unique experience. The distance and the landscape will offer unforgettable moments. My goals are a bit ambitious and to reach them I will go step by step, race after race. The most important thing is to enjoy each race and be proud of me at the end of the season.

5. How do you feel you participation to CCC this year ? (recognition of the race, preparation)… You will race CCC in August. How will you prepare for this race? Do you plan on going to Chamonix before the race to train on the course?

Yes. To prepare the race properly, I will do some training sessions on the race course, the last one during race week. My objective on CCC is to run each kilometer like if it was the last one and be able to finish with a smile on my face. I always do my best, but if I could make a top3, it would be really great.

pau capell compressport

6. You are young, but you race a lot. What are your best and worst memories in trail running (racing or training)?

The best memories I have in trail running is at Ultra Trail Menorca (186km). 22 hours of real suffering mixed with excitement and passion made it an incredible experience. The worst memories was at the last race of the Cataluña Championship. If I could not finish, I could not win  the championship. During the race I got lost whereas I was running ahead. I was mentally completely blocked. I could find the right way to the finish line, but the fact to get lost, with no idea where I had to go, caused me a lot of stress.

Thank you Pau Capell for your time, we look forward to see you on podiums this year again !

Trail runners Rock with the Clouds and Roll down Vegas

Passang Lama was unbeatable winning Stages 1, 3 and 4 while Miguel Capo and Casey Morgan cling to his heels for the 2nd and 3rd places.

MICHAEL WARDIAN LITERALLY FLIES HIGH

Mike-Wardian

… and enters the Guinness Book of records when he cruises to victory during the Las Vegas Marathon in 2h38.  His 2015-2016-season finale in Elvis’ outfit almost completes an unchained melody of high times on the tracks.

IN OTHER LANDS

Thiago Vinhal was the 2nd Ironman in Malaysia while Lisa Roberts was on the 3rd step of the IRONMAN® 70.3 Podium in Xiamen.

In Catalonia, there could be no better winner than native son Pau Capell who, in Compressport® of which he he prefers the full socks, grasps the win on the 11-Km Cursa de la Ratafia.

COMING NEXT … !

It will continue to run in USA and Brazil for the Ironman series.

Stay tuned for the outcome and continue to sport in and with Compressport®.

7 THINGS THAT MOSTLY WON’T HAPPEN IF YOU WEAR TRAIL RUNNING COMPRESSION SLEEVES

Trail runners share common issues like cramping and overuse injuries. But also achilles and patella tendonitis. Uneven terrain and unexpected elements keep runners engaged but can also lead to difficult trail running issues. With this in mind, COMPRESSPORT® developed specifics trail running compression sleeves to prevent these frequent issues. Let’s discover how compression sleeves will help you prevent these well known issues.

—-

Achilles and Patella tendonitis: The repetition of shocks in trail running causes a lot of stress for the muscles, joints and tendons and in the worst case can promote the emergence of tendonitis. Keeping your muscles compact and solid the use of trail running compression sleeves absorbs these shocks (-33 % vibrations) leading to less muscle oscillations and therefore less traction on tendon and muscle itself. A study conducted on 1200 sportsmen shows a reduction of this king of injuries by 29 %!

Shin splints: The emergence of shin splints is also due to the shocks caused by running on hard ground. The compression helps to stabilize muscles and prevent injuries. Whether suffering from shin splints due to trail running the use of compression sleeves helps to provide much needed relief.

Early muscle fatigue: The repetition of shocks in trail running (especially in downhill) causes muscle damage leading to early muscular fatigue. Absorbing these shocks the use of trail running compression sleeves will be effective to decrease or delay muscle damage (-42 %), fatigue and pain. You will be able to perform longer with a better global comfort. Therefore you will be more resistant on the last kilometers of your ultra-trail race when your competitors will slow down.

Cramps: The emergence of cramps is due to many factors including dehydration, toxin accumulation, muscle damage, fatigue… Supporting your muscle and delaying fatigue the use of compression sleeves may also delay the cramps.

Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS): You are suffering from DOMS after a hard trail race? Do your legs are so heavy to even go downstairs? Obviously, yes… This is the consequence of the muscle damage. To better recover use your compression sleeves. Less muscle damage during trail running with trail running compression sleeves means less subsequent inflammation (-52 %) and therefore less delayed onset muscle soreness (-50 %) and better recovery.

Swelling of legs and feeling of heavy legs: Emergence of muscle damage during trail running means inflammation during recovery and therefore swelling and feeling of heavy legs. Continue to wear your compression socks during the recovery will ensure better venous return (+20 %), better muscle oxygenation (around 15-25 %) and less blood stagnating in the legs. Consequently swelling of legs will be reduce and the use of compression will guarantee athletes a feeling of light and fresh legs.

Slow down in downhill: you are slowing down in each downhill? You do not trust? Your ankles are fragile? And you lose a lot of time? Try to use trail running compression sleeves… Pressing on your skin, ankle and calf muscle, the compression activates some cutaneous and muscular receptors. The message goes up to the brain and you are able to feel better feedback from your legs. You will be more serene. The compression will help you to have a better balance promoting performance during technical downhill.

Beginner, accomplished athlete or pro… every athlete is subject to these frequent Trail Running issues : injuries, DOMS, cramps, fatigue… COMPRESSPORT® provides specific solution and can help you to prevent them. Thanks to compression sleeves, these issues will be delayed or totally abolished to increase your performance on your trails!
