MATT HANSON – THE IM RECORD COLLECTOR STRIKES IN TEXAS

Between Texas and Matt HANSON, it`s a story that`s going to make history! The Minnesotan triathlete began his career in Texas. It was in Texas that he won his first championship in 2015 and that`s also in Texas that he made one of the fastest pro finishes of all times by an American.

After a complicated 2016 season, Matt gathered enough fitness to set himself up for Ironman Texas 2017, geared in his favourite compression clothing by Compressport®.

The start was not one of the best for Hanson when he came out of the water at the 18th place. In between two packs he had to decide whether to force himself in the first pack or let the second pack swallow him. He had come to Texas to be on one of the podium steps and there was no way he would divert from this objective!

Matt_Hanson_824x400Head down on his bike`s handlebar he pedalled ferociously and created a tremendous breakthrough and managed his bike to the 4th place of the race, with the 5th fastest bike split to his credit. His voyage to the IRONMAN podium was set!

During the last run he decreased his time deficit tactically and with such brio that he takes the 2nd fastest run split on his way to a fantastic victory and course record at 7:52:44 all in a indescribable rush of emotion.

Emma PALLANT wins Challenge Mogan in compression clothing

A little less than 500 participants from 24 nations gathered to run the Half-Distance event in stunning Gran-Canaria. Among the hundreds of triathletes was Ironman Champion Daniela Ryf who did not come to be just an extra!

Emma_Pallant_824x400BMC Etixx Emma PALLANT knew the race would be tough but her determination remained unwavering. Lucy Charles won the swim race, Ryf was unbeatable on her bike but Emma was not far way. So when the run is whistled out she fought her way through the pack, passed beyond Ryf and Charles and flew to victory. She stopped the chrono at 4:35:15.

She made it to the third place during the 2016 edition of the Saharan Marathon des Sables and she need no further motivation to roll in for the 2017 and she did well! Fernanda MACIEL loves outdoor sports and her relationship with nature of all kinds is of an exploratory kind.

The Marathon des Sables known to be the toughest foot race on Earth would deter the reckless of runners. Fernanda MACIEL is of another sort. Her major focus as trail runner this year was to make the best out of the Marathon des Sables.

Fernanda-Maciel-824x400Let only the first stage where she forced herself to the 4th place, during the next four stages Fernanda battled fiercely to stay close to the podium. 2nd on the second stage, she stabilised her ranking at the 3rd place on the subsequent days. Starting at 830 meters the exclusive Dynastar triathlon combines a 13.9km of bike run, 6,3km of Trail running and 4,8km Ski Mountaineering. Original and extraordinary, it is meant for only the experienced ones. Our fantastic William Bon Mardion not only made it to the finish line in pole position but also broke the race record. Xavier GACHET was not far behind, grasping a well-deserved 2nd place less than 3 minutes behind William.

Philippe GILBERT – All Good Things Come In 4 in Compression Clothing!

Philippe-Gilbert-824x400He did it in 2010 (6:22:54), he did it again in 2011 (6:30:44), he came back in 2014 to win the race (6:25:57) and during Easter Sunday 2017 he reinvented the saying that “things always seem to go in more than threes!” at 6:31:44. The race breakthrough occurred around less than 29 Km before the finish line. That`s how Philippe Gilbert of Quick-Step Floors attacked and made himself unattainable till the finish line, leaving the others to pick up the pieces.

Mauricio Mendez – Young and Restless

mendez mauricio 824x400At the edge of the Mexican coastline, on Galveston Island, the best triathlon professionals competed through rough conditions. However it was said that young Mexican triathlete Mauricio Mendez would be resilient and would not give in to discouragement. Keeping his rivals within reach after the swim and bike races he took full advantage of the run leg to mark his territory and never let go. The top spot of the Texan Ironman 70.3 podium was his at 3:45:35.

Ronnie Schildknecht – Fast and Furious

Other triathlon stars met in Oceanside, California, some to begin their season, others to confirm their form. With an early unfortunate exit of favourite Jan Frodero the competition opened up for a brand-new duel between Lionel Sanders, Chris Leiferman and our Ronnie Schildknecht. From an initial 11th position after the bike run, he managed his tireless legs through the pack to grasp the bronze title. Joe Gambles and Taylor Reid were 8th and 18th respectively.

Fréderik Van Lierde – The Gladiator

Port Elizabeth in South Africa was the scene of the first Ironman race of the year and the best athletes from all over the world would not miss that! Compressport South Africa did a great job on the event and contributed to its huge success.

Unquestionably, American Ben Hoffman was there to make history and he did so when he finished first and achieved the first sub-8 finish on the African soil.

Fred van lierde 824x400Compressport`s teammate Frederik Van Lierde, though injured, persevered through his pain to bridge the gap and finished at the 7th place. He may have lost one battle but will sure fight and win the upcoming war!

The Patagonian Run was no exception as our Teresa wins the silver medal after battling with the cold temperatures and the 9000 vertical climbing meters. She stopped the clock at 21:36:26.
