COMPRESSPORT HOSTS ITS TRAIL EVENT OF THE YEAR

The scene was staged in the beautiful Marão region of Portugal around an ultra trail that attracted some famous names of the trail world, namely Spanish Diego Pazos and British Paul Giblin.

Diego PAZOS was unbeatable!

Diego Pazos 824x400Climbing over 2600 meters and running over 49 kilometres during the 1st race of the Ultra Trail Marão and crossing the finish line more than 29 minutes ahead of the next runner-up, Diego was definitely the “Zpeediest” of all.

Paul Giblin was not far behind as he grasped the 7th place. A special note for our tireless Sylvain Laur who managed a honourable 23rd place.

In the 104 Km race Gilles Sagnol was outstanding at braving the 6000 vertical meter-climb and never gave up. He secured the second best time at 10:07:46.

Alberto CONTADOR`s 2nd Place on the Volta Catalyuna

Volta Catalyuna 824x400World`s best GC riders would not miss the Volta Catalyuna, one of the most sought-after cycling challenges. Au menu, a mixture of sprint stages and mountain climbs.

FDJ`s David Cimolai had the perfect timing on the 1st stage winning it. But as the roads and climbs turned upwards and the temperatures getting colder and colder the riders were faced with tough finishes.

Alberto Contador 824x400The 5th stage was almost dramatic, the brutal steep mountain climb not being very helpful. Trek Segafredo`s Alberto Contador came close to finish first but settled for the 2nd place.

Overall Contador finished 2nd while Daniel Martin of Quick-Step Floor took the 7th place.

The Ski Mountaineering World Cup was back in Italy!

Race: Mondole Ski Alp           Lieu: Prato Nevosa           Races: 2

Our mountaineers met with adverse weather conditions on the south western Alps and the 18 changes of technique, 8 ascents and 1700 meters of vertical rise were not to make things easy.

After the 7 stages, the best of Compressport athletes managed to win the 6th, 11th and 12th positions by William Bon Mardon, Valentin Favre and Alexis Sevennec respectively.
